20 times return on investment from Google AdWords

A client in the building services industry approached us in the Autumn of 2009 saying he needed to increase the number of good quality enquiries he received from his website. He explained that he had previously used AdWords but had had disappointing results, even though he had outsourced the management of the AdWords account to a specialist agency.

Knowing how effective AdWords can be for businesses in this sector, we suggested that perhaps the AdWords campaigns hadn't been set up as well as they could have been and offered to carry out an AdWords healthcheck to assess the situation.

Our resulting in-depth report highlighted some significant problems with the AdWords account and contained a number of specific recommendations as to how to improve the results. Once our client saw this he asked us to take over the management of the AdWords account, fix the problems, and then continue to refine the campaigns month by month with a view to getting more and more leads for the lowest possible cost per lead.

Within a few months of us starting work, AdWords had become one of the best sources of new leads coming into the business in terms of volume of enquiries and return on marketing investment.

In March 2011, the results obtained from AdWords surpassed everyone's expectations with a total of 229 online enquiries being submitted, one of which has already led to a £230,000 order which netted our client a profit of £70,000. Not a bad return on investment considering the amount spent on AdWords that month was under £3,500; and certainly not a bad result for someone who had given up on AdWords prior to working with Divadani!
